Joensuun matkailuoppaat knows the town of Joensuu and its stories, history, and people. Did you know that Joensuu was a center of international trade in Finland in the 19th century? Trade made the small town grow into a lively and modern town of culture and education. We have a wide range of stories to tell and places to introduce.

We always plan our guided tours, the route and the stories, according to your wishes. Our tour languages are Finnish, English, Swedish, Spanish, Russian, and Japanese. We are local guides in Joensuu, authorized by the Federation of Finnish Tourist Guide Associations.

Ilosaari - The Island of Joy

Stories on a guided walking tour Wed 21 February 2024 at 2 pm

I wish you welcome on an exciting tour in Ilosaari, which is Joensuu's traditional place to have fun. It is a year-round meeting place for the locals, an oasis in the middle of the town. When walking on the trails and the swimming beach, we will hear interesting stories about runesingers, rockers, ice swimmers, and explosions.

When: Feb 21st (Wednesday), at 2 p.m.

Where: Ilosaari, Siltakatu 1 (in front of restaurant Kerubi)

Duration: 1 hour

Cost: 10 €/person

We organize this bilingual tour in celebration of the International Tourist Guide Day. The one-hour tour starts in front of restaurant Kerubi and costs 10 euros. Please make sure to dress warmly!
